A.Wong’s Two Michelin Stars Arrive in Mayfair For Six Weeks

A.Wong’s Two Michelin Stars Arrive in Mayfair For Six Weeks

For six weeks starting August 18, Chef Andrew Wong is moving his entire two Michelin-starred restaurant, A.Wong, from its Pimlico home to Hanover Square. The temporary relocation to the Mandarin Oriental Mayfair is a practical one. Wong’s original location is undergoing a thoughtful refurbishment, scheduled for completion later in September.

The move brings one of Britain’s most celebrated dining experiences to an intimate setting adjacent to the hotel’s signature Atrium Restaurant. The full A.Wong team will be on hand, presenting their renowned “Collections of China” menus for dinner service only. Both the signature and vegetarian tasting menus that earned the restaurant its accolades will be available.

    A Meeting of Philosophies

Since taking the helm from his parents in 2012, Andrew Wong has built a reputation on meticulous research into China’s gastronomic heritage. His cooking melds traditional family dishes with ancient recipes and techniques, exploring the diverse flavours found within the country's 14 international borders. The approach uses both select Chinese and British ingredients to deliver a precise and creative culinary journey.

The hotel, a boutique property with 50 rooms and suites, sits at the intersection of London’s art and fashion districts, near Bond Street and Savile Row. Hemal Jain, the hotel’s General Manager, sees the collaboration as a natural alignment. “We are incredibly proud to host this exciting pop-up with A.Wong at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair,” Jain stated. “A collaboration that celebrates both our shared Asian heritage and our unwavering commitment to delivering truly exceptional experiences.”

    A Limited Engagement

The residency provides a rare opportunity to experience A.Wong’s boundary-pushing gastronomy within a different context. Guests of the pop-up can also access the hotel’s other amenities, including the Hanover Bar rooftop terrace, which serves artisanal cocktails with panoramic views over London. The Spa at Mandarin Oriental offers a 25-metre indoor swimming pool and vitality pools as a tranquil urban retreat.

For Jain, it’s a chance to partner with a chef he describes as revered and visionary. “We are thrilled to bring something so special and distinctive to our guests.” This temporary union of refined hospitality and focused gastronomy stands as one of the summer’s most anticipated dining experiences in London.
