There is always a touch of intrigue when a new yacht departs her birthplace for the first time. The slip of hull against water, the slow reveal of her lines under natural light, the quiet anticipation from those who built her. In Vlissingen this week, that intrigue surrounded Pangea, the first Amels 80 to set sail.
Damen Yachting announced the delivery and departure of Pangea this week, marking the debut of its all-new 80-metre Limited Editions design. This launch represents more than another addition to the Amels fleet. It introduces a new design language that brings together heritage, efficiency, and modern restraint.

“It is rewarding to see the first Amels 80 delivered, especially having worked so closely with the owner and their team throughout the entire journey,” said Jan van Hogerwou, Commercial Executive for North America at Damen Yachting. “This project has been a true partnership from the very beginning, built on trust, shared vision, and a commitment to excellence.”
The yacht’s exterior comes from Espen Øino International, with interiors by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. Together they have created a space defined by openness and precision. The Sun Deck stretches wide and uncluttered, centered around an oversized jacuzzi. The Beach Club opens to the sea on three sides and features a wellness area with a gym, hammam, and sauna. On the Main Deck, a 6.5-metre glass-bottomed pool brings natural light to the Beach Club below.

Inside, the Main Deck Lounge offers floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows and a direct flow to the aft terrace. The private Owner’s Deck spans 517 square metres, complemented by six additional guest cabins on the Main Deck for a total of fourteen guests across seven suites.
“This yacht represents dedication, innovation, and collaboration across the entire team,” said Project Manager Romke van der Linde. “For the owner, it is the realisation of a unique vision. For the yard, it is a proud milestone that reflects our ongoing commitment to craftsmanship and to pushing the boundaries of modern yacht building”.

The Amels 80 features a forward tender garage, a touch-and-go helipad, and an efficient hull design that ensures quiet, composed operation over long voyages. With a length of 80 metres, a beam of 12.5 metres, and a gross tonnage of 2,175, she has the range and confidence expected of a yacht built for exploration.
For Damen Yachting, Pangea represents more than technical mastery. She is a statement of evolution, built for those who value purpose over spectacle and craftsmanship over noise. Her departure from Vlissingen was not just a launch, but a glimpse of what lies ahead for Amels.
