The morning hours in Saxony have always carried a quiet sort of weight. Long before the arrival of electricity, watchmakers in Glashütte began their craft by first light, valuing not only the usable hours of sun but also the silence that came with them. That ritual of beginning early, alert, focused, and at peace, has inspired the newest creation from Glashütte Original: the PanoMaticCalendar Limited Edition in platinum, dressed in what the brand calls the “Blue of Dawn.”
This new release, limited to 150 pieces, is less a watch than a tribute. It honors both the artisans who rise early to assemble it and the very concept of time as something personal and deeply human.
The poetry of mechanics
At 42 mm in platinum, the case reveals a dial that is as much window as surface. The skeletonised design, coated in a finely textured blue with a subtle vinyl finish, opens the movement to view. At 2 o’clock, a hand-crafted moon phase floats against a starry midnight sky. The Panorama Date at 4 o’clock is paired with a retrograde month display, where recessed numerals glow one at a time beneath a curved sapphire window. Only once each year, on March 1, must the calendar be adjusted.
White gold indexes and blued hands with Super-LumiNova ensure readability in both day and night, while strap options in Louisiana alligator leather or robust blue fabric extend the harmony of the design.
Inside the calibre
Beneath this dial lies the manufactory Calibre 92-11. Running at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it combines modern resilience with traditional precision. A silicon balance spring protects against magnetism and temperature shifts, and a generous 100-hour power reserve makes the watch as practical as it is poetic. Through the case back, Glashütte’s hallmarks appear in full: rhodium-coated three-quarter plate with stripe finish, bevelled edges, polished screws, and steelwork that gleams under light.
A limited gesture
Only 150 pieces of the PanoMaticCalendar “Blue of Dawn” will be available worldwide beginning September 2025, through Glashütte Original boutiques and select partners.
Glashütte Original has long stood for an authentic approach to watchmaking, producing up to 95% of its components in-house. With this watch, that heritage is expressed not just in its technical mastery but in a sense of time that feels almost personal. It is, as the name suggests, a dawn worth keeping close at hand.
