Glenfiddich and Aston Martin Reveal a 28-Year-Old Single Malt

Glenfiddich laid down casks in Dufftown in the late 1990s, right around the time Aston Martin revealed Project Vantage to the world. That concept car set the course for the V12-powered DB7 Vantage and the original Vanquish. Nearly three decades later, those two timelines meet in the Glenfiddich 28 Years Old, a limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky built around patience, cask selection, and industrial design.

The spirit arrives after twenty-eight years of maturation in oak. Announced in Dufftown on November 4, 2026, the bottle will reach shelves in January 2027. Distribution remains focused, landing exclusively across the United States and inside major international airport retail hubs.

Malt Master Brian Kinsman constructed the profile through a sequence of active casks. American oak forms the foundation of the liquid. Kinsman moved that spirit into virgin American oak for a secondary maturation, extracting deep spice alongside vanilla sweetness. The virgin wood operates with heavy influence, altering the texture early in the blending process.

Kinsman then integrated spirit matured in European oak Oloroso sherry hogsheads. This addition supplies rich dried fruit character and weight to the body. To balance the heavy wood and sherry sugars, traditional ex-bourbon barrels contribute crisp orchard fruit notes, keeping the profile aligned with the house style that has defined Glenfiddich across its 139-year history.

Kinsman described the technical challenge as an exercise in layering active woods. "For Glenfiddich 28 Years Old, I wanted to bring Glenfiddich and Aston Martin's philosophy of perpetual motion to life," Kinsman explained. "Working with highly active casks gave me the opportunity to explore how different layers of oak influence could come together, while preserving the vibrant fruit notes synonymous with Glenfiddich."

Packaging for the release came directly out of the Aston Martin design studio in Gaydon. Flowing lines travel across the exterior shell, suggesting vehicle speed and bodywork panels. The presentation box uses layered surfacing to create physical depth, playing with light across carved edges to echo the long maturation inside the cellar.

The visual details lean into motoring heritage. Aston Martin applied its signature Podium Green paint across the presentation case, paired with brushed copper elements and the Glenfiddich stag emblem. The metallic copper finish pulls the eye toward the center of the structure, framing the bottle as a mechanical display.

Stefano Saporetti, Director of Brand Diversification for Aston Martin, noted the shared ground between both houses. "This special edition celebrates the values that unite Aston Martin and Glenfiddich: craftsmanship, creativity and continual refinement," Saporetti stated. "The result is a beautifully crafted collector's piece that reflects the heritage, ambition and enduring character of both brands."

Both companies paired the product announcement with an explicit reminder regarding road safety, advocating that nobody should drink and drive. When the bottles arrive in global travel retail and American markets in January 2027, collectors will encounter a rare cross-industry collaboration anchored in the late 1990s and finished with modern design discipline.
