Guerlain and Orient Express Introduce a Spa in Motion

The rhythm of a train is a distinct sensation. It is a constant, gentle reminder of movement, of distance being covered while the world slides past the window. For over a century, the Orient Express has been defined by this experience. It is a name synonymous with the journey, not just the destination. Now, that journey is acquiring a new texture.

Beginning in June 2026, the legendary train will include a dedicated Guerlain Spa Car. The collaboration brings two houses from the LVMH group together to build a space of intentional quietude inside a vehicle defined by its perpetual motion.

    A Space for Stillness

The new Orient Express trains, envisioned by Creative Director Maxime d’Angeac, will accommodate this travelling sanctuary. The spa car is designed with two treatment rooms and a private salon. One room is a duo cabin, designed for couples, while the other is a single cabin for individual treatments. The third space, the salon, will serve as a venue for beauty consultations and host a pop-up boutique.

The aesthetic draws from the Second Empire style, a nod to a period of opulence and detailed craft. The decor features marquetry panels from Maison Bonnet and fabrics inspired by the personal style of Empress Eugénie. It is an attempt to root a modern wellness concept in a specific historical context.

    Treatments in Transit

Guerlain has developed a menu of treatments specifically for the Orient Express. Three signature services form the core of the offering. “The Legendary 1828” is a 30-minute massage focused on deep muscle work for the back, neck, and shoulders. “Beauty Sleep” is a facial treatment of the same duration, engineered for relaxation before an overnight rest.

The most comprehensive option is the “Orient Express Ritual,” a one-hour service that combines both body and facial care. These treatments will utilize products from Guerlain’s Orchidée Impériale and Abeille Royale collections, bringing the Maison’s established formulas into a new environment.

The partnership is more than a simple branding exercise. It reflects a strategy of creating a more integrated luxury ecosystem. By placing a Guerlain spa on an Orient Express train, the experience of travel is layered with another form of escape. It suggests that the time spent in transit is not idle, but an opportunity for a different kind of activity.

This is a proposition about the changing nature of luxury travel itself. The focus shifts from speed and efficiency to the quality of the time spent moving. The journey becomes a curated experience, and every moment onboard is given a purpose.
