Mandarin Oriental Claims The London Summer Season

Mandarin Oriental Claims The London Summer Season

A collection of contemporary sculptures and artworks will take over the Hanover Bar at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair this summer. The exhibition, curated by Silverstone’s Art Director, Renata Fernandes, captures the dynamism of Formula 1. It is the first indication that the hotel’s approach to the British summer season is about more than just securing a ticket.

The Mandarin Oriental properties in Mayfair and Hyde Park have built a program around two pillars of British sport: The Formula 1 Pirelli British Grand Prix and The Championships at Wimbledon. The idea is to provide a refined London base for two very different kinds of spectacle.

    From Trackside to Parkside

For the Grand Prix, running from July 3 to 5, the package includes access to the Moët & Chandon Club at Fusion Lounge at Silverstone. Guests receive preferential suite rates, daily breakfast, and Grand Prix-inspired amenities in their rooms. A themed cocktail is served at the Hanover Bar in Mayfair or the Mandarin Bar in Hyde Park. Helicopter transfers from the city to the circuit can also be arranged through the concierge.

The two hotels offer distinct environments for the race weekend. While Mayfair hosts the motorsport art exhibition, the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park provides a quieter counterpoint. Guests there can use the Hyde Park Garden, an al fresco dining space with menus created by the team from Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, for a quiet moment away from the energy of Silverstone.

Beyond Centre Court at the Mandarin Oriental

The focus shifts from July 29 to June 15 for The Championships. The Wimbledon offering secures priority access to Centre Court tickets. The experience is supported by in-suite amenities, daily breakfast, and either champagne with strawberries at the Mayfair hotel or a strawberries and cream dessert with English sparkling wine at the Hyde Park property.

Style is also part of the arrangement. A Ralph Lauren Wimbledon-themed gift box is included, containing an invitation to the brand’s New Bond Street store for a personal styling session. The goal is to ensure guests are properly dressed for the occasion.

For those staying at the Hyde Park hotel, the sporting experience extends beyond spectating. A collaboration with the Kensington Tennis Club allows guests to play and train on sought-after courts across West London, including St. Luke’s Square in Chelsea, King’s Road, and Holland Park Villas. Private sessions with the club’s elite head coaches are complemented by chauffeur-driven transfers in an Aston Martin DBX707.
