Range Rover Sport Electric Breaks Cover at Goodwood

Range Rover Sport Electric Breaks Cover at Goodwood

At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Range Rover confirmed the arrival of its second all-electric vehicle. The new Range Rover Sport Electric was presented during a private preview event, signaling the next step in the brand’s electrification, following a series of curated events for the Range Rover Electric over the British Summer Season.

The vehicle maintains the muscular form of the current Range Rover Sport, now built around a fully electric powertrain. The company states the new model will feature more power and torque, amplified by an advanced new chassis tune and a unique audio sound design. The objective is to deliver what the brand terms a visceral driving experience across any terrain.

    A Legacy of Performance

Instead of a static display, the preview at the Goodwood Motor Circuit involved a series of driven challenges. These demonstrations were created as an homage to the marque’s past performance feats, such as the 999-step ascent at Heaven’s Gate in China and the climb of a spillway in Iceland. The exercise was designed to show the electric model's capability in a dynamic setting.

The brand's official statement expanded on this approach. “Electric power brings a new edge to Range Rover Sport. The preview at Goodwood Festival of Speed is only a glimpse of how this model will redefine performance SUVs again later this year, combining the refinement and immediate performance of electric drive while further elevating the unmistakable character of Range Rover Sport our clients already know and love.”

    Electric Completes the Lineup

The introduction of the pure-electric model later this year will complete the powertrain lineup for the Range Rover Sport. It joins a roster that includes a plug-in electric hybrid, a mild-hybrid V8 petrol, and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. This strategy provides a range of options within the same model family.

As part of JLR's portfolio, the Land Rover brand is sold in 121 countries and includes the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Velar, and Evoque models. The company has stated that fully electric models will arrive before 2030. Further details on the new Range Rover Sport Electric are scheduled to be announced later in 2026.
