A London postcode is no longer just an address. For Range Rover, it is now a specification. In a new series of exclusive editions, the brand has translated the character of the city's most coveted neighbourhoods into metal, leather and paint, and, in a quieter shift that may matter more, into electric range.

The idea of tying a car to a place is not new for Range Rover. The 1999 Linley edition channelled Mayfair. The 50th anniversary collaboration with Henry Poole & Co. wove Savile Row into the cabin. What is new here is the breadth: rather than a single halo car, the brand has assigned a postcode to each model in the range. Evoque takes Hoxton. Velar takes Belgravia. Sport takes Battersea. The flagship Range Rover takes Westminster.

The result is less a single statement than a four-part argument about what British luxury looks like when it stops looking exclusively backwards.

Hoxton, Evoque

Hoxton is the East London postcode that has spent two decades absorbing the city's creative class. The Evoque Hoxton Edition reads accordingly: 20-inch satin gold wheels with a diamond-turned contrast, a Platinum Atlas styling pack, and the edition's name etched into the lower door sill and projected through the puddle lamp. Inside, leather seat facings carry contrast stitching and the treadplates are illuminated. It is the most overtly fashion-forward of the four, which is the point.

Available as a plug-in hybrid with up to 37 miles of electric range.

Belgravia, Velar

Belgravia is Georgian terraces and embassies, and the Velar, first shown at the London Design Museum, has always been the most architectural car in the range. The Belgravia Edition leans into that lineage with 20-inch diamond-turned Dark Agate wheels in a satin black tinted lacquer, a black brushed aluminium finisher, and the edition's signature across the door sill and puddle lights.

There is also a rarer second tier: the Belgravia Edition Satin, capped at 400 cars globally, each badged "1 of 400". It introduces a clear satin protective film, a first on Velar, alongside 22-inch Dark Agate Grey wheels and a black exterior styling pack. Note that the 22-inch wheels are not available on the PHEV; those cars run 21-inch gloss black instead.

Available as a plug-in hybrid with up to 37 miles of electric range.

Battersea, Sport

Battersea is the postcode that turned a power station into a shopping arcade, which is a fair description of what the Sport does to the Range Rover formula. The Battersea Edition takes the most assertive car in the range and pushes it further: black contrast roof, black exterior pack, 22-inch black forged wheels. Inside, the edition's name is etched into the centre console and treadplates, and the seats carry distinctive contrast stitching.

The headline figure is electric. Sport Battersea is now offered as a plug-in hybrid with up to 73 miles of all-electric range, enough, on the brand's own data, to cover 75% of the average client's daily journey on the battery alone.

Westminster, Range Rover

Westminster is the seat of British government, and the Westminster Edition is the most considered of the four. The exterior wears 22-inch diamond-turned wheels and discreet Westminster badging. The cabin is finished in Natural Black Birch veneer with a 10-line inlay, a small, deliberate nod to 10 Downing Street that you will notice once and then keep noticing. Curated premium metallic paint is standard, as is Meridian 3D audio (a cost option in some markets) and a sliding panoramic roof.

Available as a plug-in hybrid with up to 72 miles of electric range.

What this actually says

Hannah Custance, Range Rover's senior manager for materiality, frames the project as a dialogue between the city and the brand. That is the official line. The unofficial one is more interesting: each edition is a plug-in hybrid, and the two longest-range cars cover three-quarters of an average client's daily driving without burning a drop of fuel. The neighbourhood names are the hook. The powertrain is the story.

Each car is a self-contained world, a few square miles of London built to be driven anywhere, and, increasingly, driven silently.
