The relationship between TAG Heuer and motorsport runs deeper than most watch brands can claim. From Steve McQueen wearing a Monaco in Le Mans to the brand's current role as Official Timekeeper of Formula 1, racing has always been part of its DNA. Now, TAG Heuer is taking that connection even further with the unveiling of the new Monaco Speed 12.

Debuting during the Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco 2026, the Monaco Speed 12 is a limited-edition timepiece designed to bring the drama and mechanical beauty of a 12-cylinder engine directly onto the wrist.

A Monaco Like No Other

At first glance, the watch remains unmistakably Monaco. The iconic square case is still present, crafted from Grade 5 titanium and topped with a sapphire crystal. But look closer and the entire concept becomes something entirely different.

Instead of a traditional hour display, twelve piston-shaped indicators rotate around the dial. As the minute hand completes a full revolution, one piston returns to its resting position while the next rotates 90 degrees to reveal the current hour. The result is a display that feels more like watching an engine operate than reading a conventional watch.

The open-worked architecture exposes much of the mechanism, while vertical grooves on the dial resemble the engine cover of a high-performance supercar. Even the minute hand takes inspiration from automotive dashboard instruments.

Developed With Louis Vuitton's Watchmaking Specialists

One of the most interesting aspects of the Monaco Speed 12 is what powers it.

The watch is fitted with the automatic Calibre TH84-00, developed and produced by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. The movement builds upon the patented Spin Time concept created by master watchmakers Michel Navas and Enrico Barbasini and has been reimagined specifically for this project.

It's a collaboration that feels particularly fitting within the wider LVMH family. Rather than simply creating another skeletonized Monaco, TAG Heuer has delivered something that genuinely pushes the boundaries of how time can be displayed.

Only 50 Pieces Worldwide

Limited to just 50 individually numbered examples, the Monaco Speed 12 sits firmly in the realm of collector's pieces. Pricing starts at €77,000 in Europe, with deliveries scheduled to begin in December 2026.

What makes this watch fascinating is that it doesn't merely reference motorsport through colors or branding. Instead, it takes one of the most iconic engineering concepts in automotive history—the V12 engine—and transforms it into a mechanical display of time.

In a market filled with racing-inspired watches, the Monaco Speed 12 feels like one of the few that genuinely captures the spirit of the machine itself.
