Vacheron Constantin Gives Form to Flow

Vacheron Constantin Gives Form to Flow

At Maison 1755 Seoul, the new flagship for Vacheron Constantin, the focus has expanded beyond the mechanics of time. The house is now host to 'Timeless Flow', a sculptural work born from a collaboration with leather craft artist Junsu Kim.

    An Unseen Force

The artwork finds its inspiration in the aurora. It is an attempt to capture a momentary, ephemeral event and give it a lasting, physical structure. Kim’s work explores how invisible forces can take shape, translating a natural phenomenon into a tangible object.

The idea runs parallel to the work of high horology itself. A watchmaker takes the abstract passage of time and gives it mechanical form. It structures an invisible force, making it readable and concrete.

    A Material Transformed

The choice of material is deliberate. Junsu Kim’s practice is centred on redefining the sculptural possibilities of leather. It’s a medium often associated with function, particularly in watchmaking for straps.

Here, the material becomes the subject. The collaboration uses leather not as an accessory but as the core of the artistic expression, pushing its conventional boundaries. It is an exercise in seeing a familiar substance in a new context.
