Vacheron Constantin has introduced two new Overseas models, both defined by lacquered dials and a new case size. One arrives in deep, vibrant red. The other is a study in warm, pink-gold tones. Both signal a clear direction for the sport-chic collection.
A Question of Size
Both models share a new 34.5 mm case diameter. The size is a deliberate choice, intended to offer refined proportions suitable for a wider range of wrists. The design retains the collection’s key signatures, including the hexagonal Maltese Cross bezel and a bracelet with links inspired by the same motif.
Versatility is central to the concept. Each watch is delivered with three options: a metal bracelet, a textured rubber strap, and an alligator leather strap. A tool-free interchangeable system allows the wearer to switch between them. The gold model comes with a white rubber and white alligator strap, while the steel version is paired with a deep red rubber strap and a shiny red alligator strap with tone-on-tone stitching.
Continuity Over Nostalgia
According to Christian Selmoni, the Maison's Legacy & Style Director, this move is about adapting to the present. "The evolution of the Overseas collection has always been guided by a desire to remain in tune with contemporary lifestyles while preserving its immediately recognizable identity," he explains. "Introducing more compact proportions is less about revisiting the past than about broadening the ways in which the watch can be worn and experienced today."
Selmoni emphasizes that the core idea is daily wearability. He notes that authenticity of design and craftsmanship are paramount, but the ultimate goal is to reinforce the Overseas’s role as a "versatile companion."
The philosophy is one of careful evolution. As Selmoni puts it, "Rather than nostalgia, this evolution reflects continuity — a natural bridge between heritage and modernity, expressed through design choices that respond to contemporary expectations while remaining faithful to the spirit of the collection."
