Valhalla brings extreme open-cockpit performance into production reality. Aston Martin announced the Valhalla Spider in Gaydon on 28 October 2026, delivering the fastest open-cockpit supercar the marque has ever manufactured. Capable of reaching 350 km/h, or 217 mph, with the roof removed, the mid-engined hybrid achieves the same maximum speed whether open to the elements or sealed.

The car makes its global premiere this weekend at the 2026 Concours at Wynn Las Vegas. Following the launch of the coupe earlier this year, the Spider preserves the foundational engineering while providing an open-air driving experience.

Aero and the Valhalla Cockpit
Managing airflow at 217 mph requires careful hardware calibration. Valhalla Spider features a dedicated wind deflector that clips into place above the windscreen header when the roof panel is detached. The deflector pulls cooling air directly toward the roof-mounted engine snorkel while lifting oncoming turbulence clear of the cockpit.
Engineers reprofiled the intake snorkel for this roof layout, setting it 35 millimetres taller than the coupe iteration. When stored, the three-piece wind deflector folds into newly packaged 15-litre sill storage compartments built into the carbon architecture.

Weather equipment includes a removable black fabric roof as standard, engineered for speeds up to 124 mph, or 200 km/h. Aston Martin also provides an optional carbon fibre hard top for full aerodynamic capability at the 217 mph top speed. A dedicated rain cover handles static protection when parked outdoors.
Inside the cockpit, carbon fibre Touring Seats come standard to improve passenger access under the roofline. Drivers desiring track support can specify the original coupe carbon seats at no additional cost. Dihedral doors feature frameless glass, smooth kinematics, and extra curvature along the top glass edge to ease cabin entry.

Engineering the Hybrid Powertrain
A mid-mounted 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine anchors the powertrain, using a flat-plane crankshaft to produce 828PS. Delivering 207 horsepower per litre, the engine sets the record for the highest specific output of any combustion powerplant produced by Aston Martin.
Three electric motors and a High-Performance Battery supply an additional 251PS, taking overall vehicle output to 1,079PS and 1,100Nm of torque. Two electric motors drive the front axle with Electric Torque Vectoring to sharpen handling. A third motor sits within the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, assisting the rear wheels alongside an electronic differential.

Front and rear axles operate with no mechanical connection between them. The Integrated Vehicle Dynamics Control system coordinates individual wheel torque, overseeing suspension, braking, steering, and powertrain behavior across four selectable drive modes.

Aerodynamic balance relies on movable active wing surfaces and underbody airflow management, maintaining over 600 kilograms of downforce with the roof fitted. Collaborating with Aston Martin Performance Technologies, the consulting division of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 Team, engineers crafted the central passenger tub using resin transfer moulding and autoclave curing. Revised Electronic Stability Programme calibrations adjust responses across roof-mounted and open driving modes.
Aston Martin Chief Executive Officer Adrian Hallmark outlined the car's role: "Valhalla Coupe broke so much new ground. Our first production mid-engined supercar. Our first plug-in hybrid. The first to feature our bespoke flat-plane crank V8 engine, and the first to use our all-new 8-speed Dual Clutch Transmission. It also pioneered a fresh design language and achieved a unique blend of exemplary on-road feel and engagement matched by extraordinary on-track capability."

Hallmark added: "Valhalla Spider builds on those impressive 'firsts', preserving the aesthetic beauty and dynamic bandwidth of Valhalla Coupe while introducing the expanded opportunities for enjoyment and engagement that can only be found in an open-cockpit supercar. High speed or low speed. Rain or shine. Roof on or roof off. Road or track. Valhalla Spider ticks every box."
