The Archives
Twenty chapters on the objects that endure — the watches, the cars, the instruments and the hands that made them.
Some objects outlive their makers. The Archives opens the drawers on twenty of them — each examined the way a curator would: closely, quietly, and from the inside.
Anatomy of an episode
Every entry in the archive is told three ways — a short standing film, a written chapter, and a set of photographic plates.

The watch that taught an industry to slow down
Before the chronograph became a complication, it was an answer — a way to hold a second still long enough to learn from it. Episode one opens the archive on the instrument that measured the twentieth century: from the timing pits of early grand prix racing to the wrists of the men who left the atmosphere.
“Every archive begins with an object someone refused to throw away.”
From the episode one companion essay
Each written chapter carries the research the film cannot hold — provenance, the makers' own words, and the details only visible under a loupe.

Twenty entries
A new chapter every Monday, from 26 October. The rest remain in the vault.
Where tradition evolves.
